Suzuki is revising it’s plans for the economy 100cc segment of Indian two wheeler market with a planned launch of a possible 100cc motorcycle later next year. Atul Gupta, vice-president (sales & marketing) said that of the three new products the company plans to launch by March 2010, at least one would be in the 100cc domain. “Despite predictions to the contrary, the 100cc segment still accounts for 70% of the overall market so entering this segment makes sense.”
Suzuki is expected to release it’s revamped strategy with the launch of the new 150cc GS150 (Lanza?) later this month with the high performance superbikes to follow suit. The new 150 is expected to be a light weight competitor in the heavily contested 150cc segment churning out over 15bhp.
