Yamaha reveals the new 2009 FZ6R

Yamaha’s 2009 launches were overshadowed by the new R1 but one bike that missed mention in most reports is the launch of the new segment from Yamaha. The new FZ6R sporting a full faring bridges the segment between the street FZ6 & R6S. Featuring an engine yanked from the past-generation R6, but revised for more lower-end performance, FZ6-R is not actually an upgrade of the FZ6.

The Yamaha FZ6-R is mechanically identical to the European-spec XJ6 Diversion, sharing the same 78bhp R6-derived engine and simple chassis with two dummy air intakes. One unique bit that is sure to win over some buyers is the low seat height and adjustable riding position, which allows the rider to move the controls both side-to-side and up-and-down.

FZ6-R is expected to go on sale in USA at slightly under US$7000.
